Mr J Molyneux

Monday 22nd April 2024

Our Prayer for the Week

Merciful Father, you gave your Son Jesus Christ to be the Good Shepherd,

and in his love for us to lay down his life and rise again:

keep us always under his protection, and give us grace to follow in his steps.

Risen Christ, faithful Shepherd of your Father’s sheep:

teach us to hear your voice and to follow your command,

that all your people may be gathered into one flock, to the glory of God the Father. Amen

Weekly News and Updates from the Headteacher

BKCAT Marketing Team Photo Shoot

Members of the BKCAT Marketing Team will be in school on Wednesday morning taking photographs around school which show us at work and at play. In time, these photographs will be used for our prospectus, website and social media platforms. This is a trust wide initiative and whilst photographs can never truly show what a school has to offer prospective new families, they do give a flavour of the things that go on here each day. The Team will be taking photographs of children in lessons, at playtime and  lunchtime. We will also be ‘staging’ various photographs so that our pupil voice groups such as our school council and chaplaincy team can be represented. The Team will be made aware of which pupils should not be photographed and all photographs will be carefully checked by leaders in school before they appear on any public domain.

Breakfast Club

Do remember that our Breakfast Club is now a permanent feature of our school. Online booking is open and it would be great if we could see an increase in numbers of children using this facility. We have 30 places available each day and are still only filling approximately 10-12 of these each day.

Annual Easter Egg Raffle

Many thanks for your generosity during Lent when we were selling raffle tickets for our Easter Egg raffle. We raised £183.43 which will be presented to the Bishop of Leeds/Catholic Care at the annual Good Shepherd Service in St. Anne’s Cathedral on the 21st May.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mr. Molyneux

Safeguarding Updates

What is County Lines?

Grooming is often associated with sexual grooming, but as we all know the process of grooming can be used for a multitude of crimes where children and young people can be exploited.

Internet Matters have put together a really useful guide for parents explaining county lines, how children are targeted, how children may be vulnerable and some resources/support.

You can find the guide HERE:

Roblox – How to Report

Most child users of Roblox will probably know how to report content or other players on Roblox, but it’s possible some parents won’t. There is a 1-minute video on YouTube showing users how to report on Roblox HERE:

General Updates

St Augustine’s Feast Day

Last week parents were sent a letter via Class Dojo regarding the upcoming St Augustine’s Feast Day on Friday 24th May. The feast day of our patronal saint, St. Austin (otherwise known as St. Augustine of Canterbury) falls on the 27th May each year.  School will be marking our school feast day on Friday 24th May with Mass and a picnic lunch. On this day, children will spend some time in class learning about St. Augustine, then celebrate Mass together before finally sharing a picnic lunch to which parents are invited to join us.

Parents are invited to arrive at 11.45am and stay with their child until 1pm. Please note for site security purposes, we kindly request parents attending the event do stay for the duration of the picnic with their child until the event finishes at 1pm. Parents will not be admitted to the school grounds if they arrive after 12.15pm.

If you are unable to attend but would like your child to sit with a family member or family friends, please send a message via Class Dojo to your child’s class teacher  no later than Wednesday 22nd May stating which adult you authorise your child to have the picnic lunch with and ensure your child knows and understands who this will be. If no one will be attending, children can enjoy their picnic lunch with staff.

Year 4 Athletics Event

Our Year 4 pupils will be travelling to St Wilfrid’s High School next Monday afternoon to take part in an athletics events with other BKCAT Primary schools. Please ensure parents of children in Year 4 (only) complete the online permission before this Wednesday.

World Art Day

Thank you to all the pupils who submitted an artwork entry to the World Art Day competition, please keep a look out on Class Dojo for the winners.

Term time absences due to family holidays have a wide impact on not only your child but also the wider school. School trip costs for example are calculated based on the number of children within a year group. Where children do not attend and do not pay due to holiday related absence, this has a financial cost to school.

PTA News

If you have any fundraising ideas for the PTA , please message Contact Office on Class Dojo.

Remember, we are always looking for new members to join our friendly team.

Extra-Curricular Activities
